I have been a subscriber to the magazine for many years and your “Problems and Solutions” column is the first thing I turn to when I receive the magazine.

I now find myself needing repair information. I have an old Honeywell Auto Strobonar Model 770 flash unit that needs new NiCd batteries and a new high-voltage capacitor. Do you know if anyone still repairs these units? This unit probably seems primitive compared to today’s fully automatic, do-everything flash units. But it was a workhorse and until now, never needed any repairs at all.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Try contacting Marflex Service Corporation, P.O. Box 633, 16 Chapin Road, Unit 906, Pine Brook, NJ 07058; (973) 808-9626, fax (973) 808-1706. Marflex still repairs and services all kinds of Honeywell flash units, including battery replacement and repairs. They may or may not have your capacitor, but it is still the place to start.

I enjoy your publication every month, and had a question regarding digital wedding albums. Our studio has recently started shooting digital wedding for the past several months. Our wedding couples have started bringing back their images for us to create their wedding albums. Is there any publication or web sites that you know of that I can go to, to get ideas on how to create a “digital” effects wedding album. Working with Photoshop I know what can be done with all the filters and effects, but I think “less is more.” If you are able to let me know where I can go to find techniques and layout ideas I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you for your efforts.

Probably the best place to look is on the web sites of some of the companies that offer digital albums. Often these manufacturers offer various levels of support—from complete design to merely printing and binding the pages or simply binding your printed pages. Also several of these companies have their own proprietary software that makes digital album design straightforward and simple Here are several interesting web sites that feature a variety of digital albums. White Glove First Edition Books [www.wgbooks.com], offers all sorts of bound digital albums and a wide array of services. Albums Australia offers beautiful large digitally produced wedding albums [www.albumsaustralia.com.au] with a variety of covers and preformatted layouts, as well as a software program to help you design your album. You might also want to visit Art Leather’s web site [www.artleather.com] and look at their Montage Art Books, which use the a new version of Montage software for design. I recently saw these books at PMA and they are quite beautiful. One other idea is to check out Martin Schembri’s Pre-designed Digital Templates, which are a drag-and-drop template layouts for great looking multi-image compositions. There are four modules, all of which work in Photoshop. For more info, visit: www.martinschembri.com.au.

I have an exposed 126 Mark VI, ASA 80, 12-exposure color film from Triple-Print Film Labs, PO Box 7620, Philadelphia PA 19101. Are they still in business and if they are not, who can I send this cassette to for processing? Thank you very much for your help. I enjoy reading Rangefinder and your column Problems & Solutions. You have helped me in the past.

Try contacting Rocky Mountain Film Laboratory, 560 Geneva St., Aurora, CO 80010; (303) 364-6444; web site: [www.rockymountainfilm.com]. The lab specializes in older, out-of-date film processes, as well as cross-processing.
