Kodak Professional has unveiled a multifaceted
eBusiness plan to sell products online. Through Kodak's web site
www.kodak.com/go/professional, customers will soon be able to buy
products, submit and track orders and make payments. The strategy
unveiled includes three major components: enabling online retail
sales of Kodak Professional products; simplifying and strengthening
the customer interface through the Internet for photo labs and dealers
of Kodak Professional products; and further bolstering the popular
and award-winning content in Kodak Professional's portion of www.kodak.com.

Phase One, the world leader in digital
photography, has announced the formation of a portrait and wedding
photographer mentor group. Included in this mentor group-formed
of Phase One's LightPhase users-is Jeff Lubin of McLean, CA, Bambi
Cantrell of Pleasant Hill, CA, Larry Peters of London, OH, and Lisa
Jane Murphy of Houston, TX. This mentor group, which represents
different segments of the portrait and wedding industry, will serve
Phase one in a variety of ways: They will contribute to the design
and the user interface enhancements of the present and future Phase
One LightPhase products including hardware and software; they will
contribute articles on how they have adopted digital capture into
their business operations and how photographers can best approach
this transition; and at trade shows the mentors will be available
at the Phase One booth for photographic demonstrations and to answer

IBM has once again empowered digital
artist/photographer Laurence Gartel [see July, 1999 Rangefinder]
with the fastest personal computer ever made: an 800 MHz, AMD Athlon
Processor. (This machine is not on the market and will not be for
some time.) With built in CD-RW, and DVD Drive, what took half a
day to render 3D models in the past, will now take a matter of minutes.
Paving the way for more on-site retail digital processing options,
George Briggs, General Manager of OnSite Pictures (OSP),a division
of Qualex, and Senior Vice-president of Qualex, announces the appointment
of Peter Orsini to Director, OnSite Pictures Digital Products and
Services. Orsini's primary objective will be to work within OSP
to provide strategic direction as the marketplace changes from strictly
analog to including digital products and services.
Photogenic Professional Lighting now
has a new Web site called photogenicpro.com. The site is meant as
an additional resource for dealers and professional portrait and
commercial photographers interested in finding out the latest about
studio and location lighting and light-shaping accessories. The
site will also feature company news and new product tips and trends,
and will be updated monthly as Photogenic introduces new products.
