Mike Kelly Donates Golden Apple Proceeds
Mike Kelly, of PureColor.com, has recently donated the proceeds of an
image, The Golden Apple, to the Twin Tower Fund in New York. The skyline
is a bit of a departure from Mikes nature scenes, but the photograph
has wonderful color saturation and incredible golden light. The photograph
was actually taken in 1981 and has never before been released for sale.
A limited edition of 75 will be made with any future proceeds going to
benefit the Twin Towers Fund in New York. For more information,

New President of ASMP
Baltimore photographer Dave Harp has been elected president of the American
Society of Media Photographers, ASMP. Harp, who operates a commercial
and editorial photography business, has a newspaper, magazine and commercial
photography background. He brings to the ASMP leadership position a well-honed
understanding of ASMP matters at chapter and national levels, and concern
that photographers need to make a united effort to become a force in the
marketplace. A former photographer for The Baltimore Sun Magazine, Harp

AIAP Formed
AIAP spokesman Alan Blakely stated that the association was created by
a group of American architectural photographers who felt a need for a
unified voice and trade-specific resources for both established and aspiring
architectural photographers.
Architectural photographers have always been a minority in the commercial
photographic community, explained Blakely. The AIAP was created
to serve the unique needs of independent architectural photographers.
The associations purpose is to promote the education and professional
success of architectural photographers worldwide. The AIAP exists
solely as an online entity with worldwide access and membership. One of
the key features of the AIAP website is the Find a Photographer
search utility.

Hasselblad Introduces Colored Cameras
For the first time, Hasselblad, www.hasselblad.com, introduces a standard
camera model, the 503CW, in optional colors. The camera, together with
the film magazine and standard focusing hood in chrome finish, is available
in four colors; Ruby Red, Cobalt Blue, Forest Green and Sun Yellow.
Based on overwhelmingly positive market research, the colored cameras

New Ernst Wildi Book
Focal Press has announced the upcoming publication of Medium Format Advantage

New ProShots lab
Customation, Inc. in Michigan City, Indiana is the latest lab to become

Teague with the First Prize for its second annual Show Us Your World

ASF Adds to Team
Applied Science Fiction, Inc. has added James Karlak to ASFs management
team. Karlak will manage the finance, administration, information systems
and manufacturing operations departments. He will also oversee the rollout
of the service and support operations of ASF as the company moves into
production and commercialization of its Digital PIC technology. Karlak,
who began his career at Texas Instruments, was most recently CEO of DynaTouch,
a Texas firm specializing in information kiosks located in the U.S. Government

IPHF Presents Camera Work Exhibit
The International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum is presenting an
exhibition featuring historic, photogravure images from original Camera
Work publications through December 31, 2001. The exhibit features more
than 50 images donated to the IPHF permanent collection by the Brooks
Foundation in Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1999. Alfred Stieglitz started
Camera Work in January 1903 to promote photography as an art form. Another
exhibit, Americas Vanishing Landscapes, the Western States,
The Works of Wayne Williams will also be presented through December.
The photographic and digital images highlight landscapes from across the

by launching a dedicated web site, as well as making driver and software

Skip Cohen Honored
PhotoAlley.coms President Skip Cohen was presented with the 2001
PPA Charities Legacy Award during the Imaging USA (PPA National Convention).
Photographer Cindy Behnke of Behnke Photographers in Frankfort, Ill.,
was also presented with the 2001 award. Both received the award for their
work with PPA Charities annual auction, which this year raised over $17,000.
St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital received a $15,000 contribution
from PPA Charities presented at this years convention. Past recipients

Leica Major Awards
Leica Camera celebrated this years season opening of Leica Gallery
in New York City with two award ceremonies. On September 12, Marc Riboud
received the Leica Lifetime Achievement Award, Leica Cameras most
prestigious honor. Paolo Pellegrin received the Leica Medal of Excellence
for his work as a distinguished photojournalist. Both photographers have
gained worldwide recognition for their vision that has captured social

DCS 760 To Go Aboard Space Shuttle
Kodak Professional has announced that NASA has chosen to carry the Kodak
Professional DCS 760 camera on board its upcoming STS108 space shuttle
mission to the International Space Station orbiting the Earth. The images
captured by the crew of astronauts with the DCS 760 will be used for research
and development of surveys and maps, and to capture internal images of
the space station and its crew members. More recently, NASA had been using
the predecessor of the current model, the DCS 660 digital camera. NASA
plans to fly its first DCS 760 up to the space station on a shuttle mission
