Boston photographer Stan Rowin Re-elected
ASMP president 2003-2004
Boston photographer Stanley Rowin, who spearheaded a variety of ASMP
initiatives during his first term as ASMP president, has been re-elected
unopposed for 2003-2004. Rowin, a driving force behind ASMP’s revamped
web site and other Internet-based communications efforts, said that during
his upcoming term he would be committed to expanding the organization’s
contributions to photography and ensuring ASMP maintained its relevancy
in a changing marketplace. “Our industry is changing at a rapid
pace and ASMP must change with it to make sure we can fulfill our traditional
mission of promoting and protecting photographers’ rights. We know
that efficient communications is a key to keeping our members abreast
of business and technological advances so we are focusing significant
resources on the web site at www.asmp.org,” he said.
Jeff Gordenstein Becomes an Everyday
Hero
In the wake of the tragic loss of his wife, Lisa, in the 911 terrorist
attacks on the World Trade Center, David Gordenstein dealt with his grief
by finding a way to help others. His commitment and inspiration, combined
with that of his Zeff associates and the United State Marine Corps resulted
in gathering 25 percent of all the Toys for Tots toys that were collected
for the needy in the Boston Metro area. For his dedicated leadership,
the Boston Celtics, together with the Boston Globe and Fox Sports Net,
awarded Gordenstein the much coveted “Heroes Among Us” award.
To stimulate the public’s generosity, Gordenstein gave every contributor
an offer they couldn’t refuse: a 5x7 portrait with Santa. The Boston
Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers returned the favor by photographing
him on the basketball court with stars Antoine Walker and Reggie Miller
after giving him the award.
