Kodak Professional, a division of Eastman Kodak Company, and Hicks Equipment, have announced their intent to enter into a strategic alliance under which the two companies will engage in cooperative efforts to market Hicks' ProShots software product for the transmission and management of digital images. ProShots provides an online link currently used by thousands of professional photographers to transmit their digital images and their order information to and from professional photography labs via the Internet. ProShots helps automate the process for handling film-based photo images, and now will feed digital imaging workflows-essentially eliminating costly order entry. Joseph Lewko, an arson and fire investigator from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, was recently honored for being an outstanding member of the profession of evidence photography by being awarded the prestigious R.C. Hakanson Award at a conference in Irvine, California. The award came at the recently held Evidence Photographers International Council's (EPIC) three-day School of Evidence Photography. Lewko, a long-time member and Board Member of EPIC, is well known in his native Canada as a fire and arson expert and the author of Fire on Wheels, well recognized among fire and arson investigators as the bible on investigating automobile fires. Express Digital, a digital photography and software company, announced that Jesse D. Young, former vice president of Adobe Systems, has been named president. Young begins work at Express Digital immediately and is based at the company's headquarters in Englewood, Colorado. He had a six-year career with Adobe prior to joining Express Digital. From 1998 to 1999, he was vice president and representative director of Adobe Systems Co., Ltd., Adobe's Japanese subsidiary. Shutterfly, the all-digital, online photo service chaired by Jim Clark, recently announced a partnership with Yahoo!, to create Yahoo! Photos. Yahoo! selected Shutterfly to provide digital print photo services to its customers, who can now obtain 35-mm quality prints from their online photos, through Yahoo!. Kodak Picture CD has been selected by the Computerworld Smithsonian Program to be included in the Permanent Research Collection of Information Technology at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. Induction ceremonies will take place on April 3 in Washington, D.C. Established in 1988, The Computerworld Smithsonian Program seeks out and publicly honors organizations and individuals whose use of information technology produces positive social, economic and educational change.
