Problems & Solutions

I recently purchased the new iMac G5,
and I am running Mac OS X 10.4.6. I have
an Epson Photo Stylus 2200 printer. It will
not run correctly with my OS. I have contacted
Epson, and they don’t currently have
a print driver update for this OS. They
told me how to use the printer, but I have
no control over such things as paper type
and size, and it prints horribly. In order to
print my photos, I need to hook up my old
computer. Any suggestions?
This is exactly the same situation I have
with my 2200. I am running the same
version of OS X as you but on a G5. The
2200 prints horribly now, and I can’t get
it to recognize any papers except the
glossy, even though all the paper profiles
are loaded. Now here’s the weird part: My
wife has the exact same setup you do—
she is using a G5 iMac, Mac OS X 10.4.6
and an Epson 2200 printer. She has not
had any problem whatsoever and is still
using the original driver that came with
the 2200! I have talked to a number of
people who run 2200s and also to Epson,
and a common suggestion is to uninstall
the current driver and reinstall the original
driver that came with the printer. One
of the problems in my case is that I have
two drivers installed for the same printer,
and although you can only select one at
a time, the presence of the other may be
causing problems. Maybe you have that
same problem too. Stand by, I’ll no doubt
have more information soon.

I have a question and rather than do a
Google search, I thought I’d ask you since
you’re so plugged in. Is there a company
out there that handles email campaigns?
For example, if a photographer wants to
get a product or service “out there,” is there
someone you know of that handles that?
We have used Vertical Response with
some success: www.verticalresponse.
com. They have options for plain text,
templates and freeform HTML. Also, the
bounces and unsubscribes are handled
automatically, and you can access statistics
about click-throughs, email opens,
etc.

We read in the April “P&S” that John Piccione
has a couple of Bronicas “gathering
dust.” We would love to purchase them.
I don’t have his email, so we’ll have to hope
he sees this and contacts you.
